Therapy North Tyneside Working Together

Are you looking for therapy in North Tyneside?

If you’re interested in working together or have any questions, please get in touch via the contact section. I will then be able to offer a free 15 minute telephone or online consultation to discuss what you are looking for. Also to see if I would be a good match.

If we agree we would like to work together, we can then book in an initial appointment.

Therapy North Tyneside - how many sessions do I need?

It is difficult to predict in advance how many sessions may be needed. Some pieces of work may be short-term and involve a small number of sessions. Others may be long-term and involve a greater number of sessions.

In other words, this depends on what you are looking for from therapy. We take into account your goals and the complexity of the difficulties you are experiencing.

The number of sessions will be discussed during the early stages of therapy. Together we can either agree on a set number of sessions, or blocks of sessions with regular reviews, or it can be more open-ended. It all depends on what works best for you.

Therapy North Tyneside - who do I work with?

I specialise in working with adults and my approach is multi-model, flexible and person led. This means that we will initially work to develop an understanding of:

  • what has brought you to therapy

  • the goals you want to work towards

We will collaboratively develop a plan for therapy based on these.

Short or long-term therapy?

The work can be short-term or longer-term. In other words, we will build in regular reviews to check in and make sure we are on track to where we want to head towards.

Weekly sessions tend to work best to maintain momentum. However some people prefer fortnightly. Endings of therapy will be planned together.

Models of therapy

The models of therapy that can be offered are:

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR)

  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

  • Internal Family Systems Model (IFS)

  • Mindfulness

  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Trauma informed approaches

Often these are combined into an integrative approach that is individualised to the difficulties and challenges you want to work on.

Therapy sessions - in person or online

I can offer face to face sessions in my base in Seaton Delaval, online sessions via MS Teams and also “Walk and Talk” sessions which is therapy on the move.

Many people like this approach as the bipedal movement of walking can help with processing difficulties and also gives the opportunity to practise skill based learning in vivo (e.g. mindfulness, anxiety management skills).

If you like the idea of movement, have you considered Yoga Therapy? I offer this in a group setting or individually.
